1. PARKING: If there are long spaces open in the
structure, you can pull all the way to the front and
you are effectively saving a spot (behind you) for
another Deadline Junkie. It’s a sweet setup if
you get to know each other’s cars and schedules.
2.
NEW PEOPLE: I’m bringing in all the new people
with a six-month probation. Now we have an out if
any turn out to be crazy. While I personally enjoy
delusional people, I understand working with them
can be a challenge.
3. RECORDING PRESENTATIONS: Oron
wanted to record and edit our evenings and post them
online. Any thoughts, feelings?
4. THE LOTTERY: Good?
Bad? Indifferent?
5. COMEDY SCRIPTS: What is the right
mix for our group? How should we work this out? I
pitch the group as 90% comedy, but I still get ribbed
for non-comedy material. How can we fix this? I’d
love suggestions.
6. NEW MATERIAL: We all need to
keep writing. That’s
what the group is all about. It’s the figurative
gun to our heads. If you are not writing new stuff,
why do you need this group? Putting up new pages,
scripts and ideas is as much a responsibility as
a privilege.
7. RERUNS: New night, same old pages.
Why no changes? Why must we give notes on the same
pages twice? And if your script is already finished,
why are you putting it up in the first place? We
should all be putting up stuff we are working on.
If it’s finished,
give it to your agent.
8. CONSISTENTLY BAD NOTES:
We have a filtering system for writers. We don’t
have a good one for actors or auditors. I’m
comfortable making judgment calls for all of us,
but I don’t want to do it
without the group’s support. Let me know your
thoughts. |
